These musical compositions mark the cultural history of America and also address world history and global society. This twelve week course is for 4th through 12th grades. The culminating event can be in the styles of dance theater or dance review.

Samba

Listen to a Samba from Brazilian Carnivale

Samba is the national dance of Brazil, which has also become a universal dance of Latin America and beyond.  This dance will develop cardio fitness and challenge rhythm and coordination. And the costumes are fun to make. This ten week (suggested minimum) course is for 8th graders.

The Tea Dance (5th-7th Grade)

The Tea Dance is an innovative model for integrated yet disciplined-based arts education.  DanceArt developed the Tea Dance as a model of school improvement through the arts.  The culmination of 12 weeks “feet on” learning will be a unique performance for an audience of 1,000 in one of Chicago’s grand historic ballrooms.
