The Great American Songbook is a titled work of composers of the past one hundred twenty years. These musical compositions mark the cultural history of America and also address world history and global society. This twelve week course is for 4th through 12th grades. The culminating event can be in the styles of dance theater or dance review.
Samba is the national dance of Brazil, which has also become a universal dance of Latin America and beyond. This dance will develop cardio fitness and challenge rhythm and coordination. And the costumes are fun to make. This ten week (suggested minimum) course is for 8th graders.
This dance is a basic and delightful partner dance of Latin America. It can be based on numbers and counting, but can also be danced and taught with ease and delight! This ten-week course is all ages and can be custom designed for your group. Professional development sessions are available throughout the 2010-2011 academic year.
The Tea Dance is an innovative model for integrated yet disciplined-based arts education. DanceArt developed the Tea Dance as a model of school improvement through the arts. The culmination of 12 weeks “feet on” learning will be a unique performance for an audience of 1,000 in one of Chicago’s grand historic ballrooms.
